Sep 13-20, PIRE Cirrus has its first workshop at Friday Harbor. A majority of the PIRE researchers gather in Friday Harbor to present the current knowledge and recent edging advances, summarize the important questions to address and the problems to be solved, and put forth the researcher agenda. It is an educational and productive working meeting.
In the morning, more mature researchers gave introductory talks of relevant subjects and presentations of their current research. In the afternoon, we enjoy ample self-arranged discussion sessions of our own. In the evening, we have student talks, as well as requested talks to shed light on issues people (especially students/postdocs) want to understand more.
Formally and informally, there are a lot of time and space for discussions to happen.
We also enjoyed our time beside science.
